Real OC Housewives Cross Finish Line at New York City Marathon Ten housewives and mothers from Orange County, California, competed in the 37th annual New York City Marathon last Sunday, after juggling training with raising their families for the past five months. Newport Beach, CA (PRWEB) November 14, 2007 -- After training together for the past five months, ten housewives from Orange County flew across the country last Sunday to compete in the 37th annual New York City Marathon (http://www.nycmarathon.org/home/index.php).
The women originally met through the Newport Beach-based Cal Coast Track Club (http://www.calcoasttrack.com/), under the direction of renowned Coach Bill Sumner. The fellow mothers became close friends and began meeting every Friday morning to train together.
After completing the Orange County Marathon (http://www.ocmarathon.com/)in January, the moms made a pact to complete the more prestigious New York City Marathon, and helped each other train, with the more experienced marathoners mentoring the self-declared "newbies" of the group.
The moms juggled their training with raising as many as seven children, often meeting as early as 5:30 a.m. in order to be home in time to make their kids breakfast and send them off to school.
"Some of us developed injuries while training, but quitting was not an option. Everyone had to go," remarked Alisha Lange, mother of three. "This was an amazing, once-in-a-lifetime moment shared between good friends; and we accomplished our goal by getting everyone across the finish line."
In doing so, it's no question that these OC housewives represented their community well and made their families proud in New York City.
