2008 Bulldog Awards Reward the PR Campaign Qualities That Journalists Admire Most

PR practitioners seeking ways to get recognition for their outstanding PR stunts, events and campaigns and will be presented with a new opportunity to get acknowledgment for their most creative, innovative, and provocative PR efforts--Bulldog Reporter's 2008 Bulldog Awards for Excellence in Media Relations and Publicity.

Emeryville, Calif. (PRWEB) November 21, 2007 -- Since most PR campaigns are directed to the press, it makes sense that journalists should judge the best PR campaigns. But PR industry awards competitions usually have PR people judging other PR people. Bulldog Reporter's 2008 Bulldog Awards (http://www.bulldogreporter.com/Media/MediaManager/2008awardsbrochure_8.5X11_nc2WEB.pdf) for Excellence in Media Relations and Publicity are different--they are judged exclusively by working journalists.

"PR professionals tell us that because this program is journalist judged, winning a Bulldog Award is one of the highest honors they can receive. One PR pro told me her gold award was the pinnacle of her career," notes Bulldog Reporter publisher Jim Sinkinson.

The 2008 Bulldog Awards is the only PR awards program judged entirely by journalists, and this year's judges include:

Chris Elliot, Reporter, Travel Columnist, The New York Times

Jeff Crilley, General Assignment Reporter, Fox News

Bill Newcott, Features Editor, AARP The Magazine

Meghan Collins-Sullivan, Deputy Online Editor, WashingtonPost.com

Keith Hammonds, Deputy Editor, Fast Company

Evan Cooper, Senior Managing Editor/Online Editorial Director, InvestmentNews

David Satterfield, Managing Editor, San Jose Mercury News

Maria Stainer, Assistant Managing Editor, Washington Times

Tom Hallman, Reporter (and Pulitzer Prize winner), The Oregonian

The Bulldog Award winners will be announced through all Bulldog Reporter publications, industry press releases and will be honored before hundreds of top PR professionals at the Bulldog Awards luncheon at the Media Relations 2008 Summit in San Francisco on April 7.

Case studies of winning campaigns will be featured in PR Hall of Fame, a widely distributed and downloadable magazine. In addition, select awarded campaigns will also be chronicled in Bulldog Reporter's Winning PR Campaigns e-newsletter and in Bulldog Reporter's Daily 'Dog trade journal, both of which are distributed to more than 45,000 PR professionals.

Winners will be presented with a gold, silver, or bronze award for each of the 29 categories, along with the "Best Media Campaign of the Year" award for the grand prize winner. Submitting a campaign in more than one category is permitted, and the application process involves a brief 2-3 page description of the campaign and at least one clip of the media coverage attained.

The initial deadline for award submissions is November 30, 2007. Entries will be accepted until December 14, 2007, with a nominal late fee.
