She Wallows in Well of Woe and Ignites Firestorm in Doll Industry

Ellowyne Wilde, the moody fashion doll from Wilde Imagination, has ignited a new firestorm in the once-lagging doll industry - and savvy business people around the world are riding the chronically bored doll's popularity selling everything from patterns, wigs, and home-made fashions to setting up their own mini Ellowyne Wilde doll conventions - and all for a doll that would just as soon sit home alone with her cat and bowl of whipped cream.

Mullica Hill, NJ (PRWEB) November 29, 2007 -- There's a Yahoo! Group with over 500 members dedicated to all things Ellowyne Wilde; at any given time eBay has over 100 listings of items especially for her; doll clubs around the world are clamoring for Ellowyne to be part of their luncheons, charity events, and conventions; and savvy doll re-painters, re-wiggers, and fashion designers are cashing in as well. Welcome to the world of the Internet and savvy entrepreneurs - and Ellowyne Wilde.

In just over one year, Wilde Imagination, the Mullica Hill, New Jersey based direct marketing company that markets Ellowyne Wilde, has managed to capture the discriminating imaginations of a whole world of doll collectors and business people….and created a new phenomena that not only benefits the company, but also those who are creative enough to ride the doll's popularity.

"We've been amazed at the response," notes Debra DeForte, Marketing Director for the company. "She's become popular not only through our own marketing efforts, which features an e-Commerce website and catalog, but through those who have recognized the trend and have created their own unique businesses selling items and services for the doll that we don't, and marketing them through their own channels."

As to why she has become so popular, DeForte has a theory. "She's a beautiful doll with quirky designer fashions that are trendy, not trashy. But Icollectors really connect with her story - she suffers from chronic ennui, eats whipped cream, posts her therapy sessions on her MySpace blog and website, and would love to conquer the doll world, if only she had the energy - yet somehow always looks amazing. Who can't connect with that?"

Wilde Imagination™ was founded in October 2006 to bring beautiful and unique collectible products to both doll and non-doll enthusiasts around the world. And with world-renowned doll artist Robert Tonner as the Creative Director and genius behind the Ellowyne Wilde line, the company is quickly experiencing its first taste of success.

"On any given day of the week, we receive calls and emails from people around the world who inquire about licensing, donations, doll club participation, place orders, or simply request a catalog" said DeForte. About 12% of the company's business is international, with Ellowynes travelling as far away as Russia, South Korea, Europe, and The Netherlands.

The company sends out between 50-60 catalogs a day from requests, over and above the bi-annual mailings, and sees on average a 27% response rate for their efforts. Catalog industry response rates typically run between 1-2 percent.

The 20-page catalogs feature beautiful photography with Ellowyne posed in a myriad of sullen poses, and are sent out free, but some have even taken to selling them on eBay for $15 and up. "We sell directly to the consumer, and our website attracts thousands of visitors each week. We find it interesting collectors can find the catalog on eBay, but don't seem to find it on our website homepage - we're looking into that," said DeForte.

All in all, Wilde Imagination is thrilled with their success, and if others can profit from what they've created, so much the better. "We're happy that doll lovers have taken such a positive interest in Ellowyne.....therapy sessions aside, she may be the cure for what has been ailing the doll industry - a fun dose of boredom and dissatisfaction, coupled with a killer wardrobe."
