Registration Opens for 'Leadership in Green Health Care' Course

Course educates health care professionals in new discipline of "sustainable medicine."

Berkeley, CA (PRWEB) November 29, 2007 -- The Teleosis Institute, an educational non-profit organization based in Berkeley, CA, announced today that registration has opened for its groundbreaking "Leadership in Green Health Care(sm)" course for health care practitioners. The 8-week, online course begins January 14, 2008. Registration and additional information is available at www.teleosis.org.

Leadership in Green Health Care(sm) is designed to prepare health professionals as leaders in the newly emerging discipline of Sustainable Medicine. Sustainable Medicine is an approach to health and wellness that focuses on cost-effective health care, renewable treatment methods, and preventative self-care education.

"Because Sustainable Medicine is a new area of instruction, most healthcare practitioners did not have exposure to the topic during their medical training" said Joel R. Kreisberg, DC, MA, founder and executive director of the Teleosis Institute. "Our course introduces them to the theory, latest research, best practices and opportunities for community action."

Larry Dossey, M.D., author of Reinventing Medicine and Teleosis advisor said "The Green Health Care Program is a practical, effective way of implementing environmentally responsible actions in the medical environment. This program should be followed in every office, clinic and hospital."

About Teleosis Institute

The Teleosis Institute was founded in 2004 by Dr. Joel Kreisberg, DC, after he observed that the healthcare industry was largely absent from discussions of a sustainable future. The institute is dedicated to reducing healthcare's footprint while broadening its ecological vision. It promotes a new health care model called Green Health Care, which seeks to conserve natural resources while promoting personal wellness and preventive education.

In addition, Teleosis sponsors a Green Pharmacy program focused on building a network of pharmacies that collect unwanted medications and disposal of them using environmentally sound processes. Teleosis started the program in response to research that showed 80% of 139 U.S. streams contained traces of prescription medications.1 Teleosis also publishes a quarterly magazine providing sustainable healthcare information.

Green Health Care is a service mark of the Teleosis Institute. Teleosis is Greek for "greater self realization."
