The Master's Seminary Offers Critique of New Covenant Theology

The faculty of The Master's Seminary offers a critique of the system of theology known as New Covenant Theology.

(PRWEB) December 15, 2007 -- Faculty members of the The Master's Seminary (TMS) have offered an in-depth analysis of the new system of theology known as New Covenant Theology. The results of this critique can be found in the recently released Fall 2007 edition of The Master's Seminary Journal.

"New Covenant Theology is a system of theology that attempts to explain the relationship of the New Covenant to the church today," says John MacArthur, President of The Master's Seminary in Sun Valley, California. "So we decided to have several members of our faculty offer a critique of this system."

According to MacArthur, five faculty members from TMS are involved with this analysis of New Covenant Theology. The articles in the journal are based on a series of lectures given by the faculty last February to the students at TMS.

The topics addressed in the journal include:

--"Introduction to New Covenant Theology," by Dennis Swanson

--"New Covenant Theology and the Old Testament Covenants," by William D. Barrick

--"The New Covenant and New Covenant Theology," by Larry D. Pettegrew

--"New Covenant Theology Compared with Covenantalism," by Michael J. Vlach

--"New Covenant Theology and Futuristic Premillennialism," by Richard D. Mayhue.

"This is the most serious analysis of New Covenant Theology to date," says MacArthur. "All who are interested in Christian theology will benefit from this scholarly evaluation."
