BITTINGER, MD. - February 26, 2003 - FireFly Farms, award-winning producer of artisan goat cheeses from Maryland's Allegheny Plateau, today announced the launch of its web presence at www.fireflyfarms.com. The new web site provides visitors with a wide range of information including an up-to-date Farm Journal, a Goat of the Month feature, information on how their farmstead cheeses are made, recipes using FireFly's three goat cheeses: MountainTop Bleu , Merry Goat Round , and Allegheny Chevre , and much more. "We are very pleased with the site," said Mike Koch, one of FireFly's four principal partners. "We were trying to create a web site that not only gave visitors additional information on our farmstead goat cheeses, but more importantly gave them a feel for life on the farm. The web site is our invitation to become a virtual part of our community." Washington DC-based creative and application development agency CDG Solutions built on its knowledge of the farm gained in the initial creation of the FireFly cheese labels and other corporate identity materials to extend this visual identity into the design of the web site. CDG then developed the site with its proprietary content management system, WMS, which allows FireFly Farms staff to maintain the content of the site while preserving the design's integrity. CDG President Scott Adams shared Mike's enthusiasm for the newly launched FireFly Farms web site: "We've been providing a full range of design and development services to our clients since 1991. Our work with FireFly Farms has been extremely rewarding; it has provided our designers with a unique creative opportunity and we were pleased to be able to integrate a content management tool that will allow FireFly to maintain the site's content and its visually striking design. We're proud of the site and the way it brings to life the spirit of the farm, the farmers, and their wonderful cheeses."
The FireFly Farms web site will roll out in two phases. Phase one has successfully launched and establishes FireFly's web presence. Phase two, planned for early in 2004, will offer expanded content and the ability to order FireFly's cheeses on-line. Key sections of FireFly's phase one web site include: " The Farm - This section contains comprehensive information on FireFly Farms. About FireFlyFarms Organic, Inc. FireFlyFarms Organic, Inc. is dedicated to the art of cheese making. FireFly Farm's artisan cheeses are all made in the farmstead tradition - they are produced with milk from their own goatherds. They take special care to ensure the purity, quality, and clean flavor of the milk and all their cheeses are produced by hand. Their aged cheeses are ripened naturally in a specially constructed aging room - they shun short cuts and artificial techniques aimed at increasing yield or shelf life at the expense of quality.
