Stirling Technology, indoor air quality leader, enters 20th year

At a time when America is becoming increasingly concerned about indoor air quality, Stirling Technology celebrates its 20th year creating innovative products such as the RecoupAerator® energy recovery ventilator. Stirling has long been an indoor air quality leader, manufacturing the most efficient energy recovery ventilator on the market.

ATHENS, OH, February 28, 2003 - Stirling Technology, Inc., the small Ohio company that has revolutionized the world of indoor air quality, celebrates its 20th year. Stirling Technology manufactures the RecoupAerator®, Americas most advanced home air ventilation system.

    Were quite proud of the progress weve made educating the public about indoor air quality," says President and CEO Catherine J. Chagnot. When the RecoupAerator® was introduced, we had just emerged from the energy crisis. We had tightly insulated our homes. Few of us were thinking, 'Hey, if my home is so well insulated, how is fresh air getting in?"

    Chagnot pondered indoor air quality one afternoon in the early 1980s as she watched her daughter play in her familys finished basement. Radon gas had recently surfaced in the news. I thought, 'If there is bad air here, I certainly dont want my child playing in it." That day, Chagnot drafted a plan for a ventilation system that would remove stale air and deliver fresh, filtered air throughout her home.

    

    The first RecoupAerator® was sold in 1987. Today, Stirling Technologys indoor air quality engineers are still at the task of informing the public about indoor air quality. Says Chagnot, Were engineers who are serious about creating the best and most efficient home ventilation for ourselves and for anyone concerned about indoor air quality."

Since its introduction, the RecoupAerator® has, in independent testing, ranked number one among energy recovery ventilators (ERVs). ERVs exchange and filter air while managing indoor air temperature. Part of the RecoupAerators® superlative success is its smart" motor, much like the processing chip in a home computer. The programmable smart GE motor maintains balanced airflow, is quiet, and uses very little electricity. The RecoupAerator® is the only ERV in America using this smart motor.

In September 2002, the RecoupAerator® was chosen to be part of a green" home designed by Carnegie Mellon University architecture students and erected in downtown Washington, D.C. as part of the Energy Departments Solar Decathalon. Every year, the student competition showcases the best and brightest environmentally friendly and energy-efficient home designs.

In February 2003, the RecoupAerator® Window Unit was featured on the popular Earth-friendly" web site www.dulley.com. James Dulley, a mechanical engineer, specializes in educating homeowners about do-it-yourself energy-efficient building methods and products.

Stirlings web site (http://www.healthyairpeople.com) offers a wealth of indoor air quality information, including a free newsletter subscription. The web site also features an extensive library of indoor air quality publications, which explain health risks associated with home computers and electronics, appliances, cooking, mold, and radon among others. Stirling has always offered free installation support as a service to homeowners and contractors.
