- - U.S. Beer Drinking Team Captain and BeerTelevision correspondent, "Chicago Bill" Krejci will appear on The Learning Channel's (TLC) newest and most exciting reality television series, FAKING IT, on Friday, March 21, 2003 @ 10 PM (ET/PT). - -

ANNAPOLIS, MD - March 13, 2003 - - "You can take the boy out of Chicago, but you can't take the beer out of the Chicago boy", says hard-core sports fan "Chicago Bill" Krejci. FAKING IT tries to take the beer out of the Captain of the U.S. Beer Drinking Team by moving him 2,000 miles away to San Francisco for 4 weeks and turning him into a wine captain (sommelier). "I spend about 800 dollars a year on beer", exclaimed Chicago Bill, "and here I was in California wine country selling a single bottle of wine for 800 dollars as the wine sommelier at the Ritz Carlton Hotel!"

FAKING IT plucked Chicago Bill from his natural habitat as Captain of the U.S. Beer Drinking Team, and gave him one month to master a completely alien skill set well enough to fool a group of industry judges. Was he able to fool the judges or is he just everyone's good old Chicago beer buddy? Either way he remains Captain of the U.S. Beer Drinking Team. Chicago Bill's episode, Six Pack To Chardonnay debuts on TLC, Friday, March 21 at 10 PM (ET/PT), 1 AM (ET) and Saturday, March 22, at 3 PM (ET). (Chicago Bill's episode will debut in England later this month)

Each episode of FAKING IT has its own unique cast of characters including: the faker, two mentors (experts in the field), an acting or voice coach, a make-up artist, and various guest experts, who all work tirelessly to transform the fresh face into an old hand. At the new series core is the unique relationship that develops between novice/faker and their mentors.

FAKING IT piles on the pressure. For Chicago Bill, it was a month of finding his unknown potential. As Captain of the U.S. Beer Drinking Team, he had never known about or appreciated wine. He underwent a journey of self-discovery, determined not to let either himself or his mentors down. For his mentors, it increasingly mattered that Chicago Bill succeed.

Each FAKING IT episode culminates with a final test that follows the weeks of intensive training. Finally, the faker competes with three other experienced peers before a panel of judges, all oblivious to the faker among them. At the end, the judges are asked to identify the faker. Will the fakers "pass" in this strange new world? Can they fake it till they make it?

According to Dennis Buettner, President of the U.S. Beer Drinking Team, "Chicago Bill showed the world, his family and his beer buddies that a Chicago beer drinker can make it in California wine country. He is truly an asset to the USBDT's Brotherhood of Beer."
