Taste Chocolate Offers Chocolate Tasting Parties, Events and More

A new business based in Portland, OR offers chocolate tasting parties, events, and an e-store with the finest bars available in the chocolate world.

Taste Chocolate owner Marcy Richards knows a thing or two about chocolate. Combine that with her 11 years as a successful business owner, and you've got the makings of something delicious. Richards began to see a shift in the way consumers in this country viewed chocolate, with the increase of high-quality, high percentage cacao bars both imported and created here in the United States. It was that awareness of a rising trend, along with her passion for chocolate, that prompted Taste Chocolate. She spent the next year immersed in the chocolate industry, researching the origins and manufacturing of chocolates, speaking with chocolate shop owners, chocolatiers, manufacturers, and of course, sampling along the way.

After all, who doesn't like chocolate?

Taste Chocolate is more than just learning the difference between quality chocolate and your average candy bar. Taste Chocolate is an experience. A chocolate tasting experience, that combines fun, knowledge, and of course chocolate in a relaxed personal setting. A wine tasting for the chocoholic, if you will. A fun date night, girls night out, corporate activity, event highlight...there is always a time and a place for a unique chocolate tasting.

So what exactly is a chocolate tasting?

Taste Chocolate offers two ways to taste. Customers can sign-up via website www.TasteChocolate.net or phone (503) 833-2189 to attend one of the regularly scheduled events at a beautiful home here in Portland. The cost is $15 per person, or $25 per couple. Customers are also able to purchase chocolate bars (ranging in price from $2-$14 per gorgeous, artisan bar). Or, a customer can host a chocolate tasting at their own home or location, inviting their friends, family and colleagues. There is a flat fee of $200 for this type of tasting, which includes up to 15 guests of the host. Customers are able to purchase chocolate bars at these events as well.

What happens at the tastings?

There are 4 tastings to choose from. Owner Marcy Richards guides the group through a chocolate experience of fun and interesting facts, a knowledge and appreciation of chocolate, and of course, the delicious sampling:

Chocolate 101: The basics of the different kinds of chocolate, chocolate percentages, and the major chocolatiers and manufacturers around the world.

The Milky Way and Knights in White Chocolate: Focuses on milk chocolates and white chocolates.

Welcome to the Darkside: Comes with a warning label, for experienced chocolate eaters only. 70% cacao content or higher.

Taste of Portland: Focuses on 5 local area chocolatiers (2 different confections from each)
