BlogHer Appoints Media and Sales Strategist Gina Garrubbo to Executive Team

Executive Vice President Brings Leadership Experience from Oxygen Media, Discovery Communications and women.com

Palo Alto, CA (PRWEB) January 8, 2008 -- BlogHer, Inc. (www.blogher.com), one of the top women's online networks and the Web's number-one guide to blogs by women, today announced the appointment of Gina Garrubbo as executive vice president. Garrubbo will draw from her more than 20 years of experience in media leadership and sales innovation to help further BlogHer's development as one of the top community and media networks for women who blog. Her responsibilities will include working closely with the three co-founders of BlogHer to build on the momentum they've created with the advertising community and set the standard for how brands and bloggers work together.

"Gina's addition to the BlogHer team comes at a time when, in the demographic sweet spot of women ages 25 to 54, Nielsen reports a decline in morning show viewership of 10 percent compared to last year. Women are looking to the blogosphere for news and information which is more timely, relevant and easy to obtain, and companies are looking for ways to join women's conversations, rather than interrupt them," said Jory Des Jardins, BlogHer co-founder and president of strategic alliances. "We are delighted to have her join the team and look forward to working with her to further BlogHer's position as a major women's media network."

Garrubbo has worked with companies such as Discovery Communications and Oxygen Media, managing advertising sales divisions and helping launch new brands such as The Learning Channel. Most recently Garrubbo was one of the founders and CEO of Terralina (http://terralina.com), a unique line of natural, luxury skincare, where she will continue to remain on the Board of Directors. She was also one of the builders of women.com, was an early board member of the Internet Advertising Bureau and pioneered new ways in which marketers could communicate with consumers on the Internet.

"We're seeing a unique shift happening in the blogosphere, creating a window where marketers have the opportunity to employ creative campaigns, essentially setting the standard for the rest of the digital space," said Garrubbo. "We work every day with female consumers who are using blogs to change their communication and consumption patterns. We're excited to bring this learning to sponsors and other partners who want to stay on the forefront of social media change with us and the more than 8 million users who participate in this network every month."

Garrubbo has a passion for healthy living and strives for an environmentally sensitive lifestyle. She sits on the Board of Sweet Border Collie Rescue, where she raises money to send inner-city children to a Border Collie Rescue farm every summer. She resides in New Jersey with her daughter.
