Minneapolis Artist Jody Winger Creates Art for Worlds Largest Greeting Card

Giant Sunrise® Greetings Card to be Mailed in Columbus, Georgia

Jody Winger, with the help of friends and associates, is trying for a world record!

Winger has created the artwork for what may turn out to be the World's Largest Greeting Card. On March 28, this Sunrise® Greetings card, produced by InterArt, will be delivered to the Columbus Museum in Georgia. It will require four postal workers to lift, the Post Offices largest flatbed truck to transport and uses what may be the worlds largest stamp. Measuring 8 feet 10 inches tall by 24 feet long, this mammoth piece of mail is a Guinness World Record attempt for the worlds largest freestanding greeting card made from a single sheet of paper.

Winger designed the card and InterArt produced it at the request of the Columbus Museum, whose board members wanted something outstanding to help celebrate the Museums 50th birthday. After seeing her Sunrise cards in a local shop, the Museum's board fell in love with Wingers colorful, whimsical style and requested her art on the card. Winger agreed to create an original design for the giant card and InterArt had it printed and affixed to the giant paper structure.

It is 291 times bigger than a standard greeting card, and is made from 100 percent recycled paper.

"I am delighted to support the arts and help the Columbus Museum, " said Winger. The card depicts happy children playing around a giant birthday cake and reads: "Museums are places we go to remind us of how to let our imaginations fly." This is a fitting image to celebrate the Columbus Museum, which is free to the public and offers many educational programs for children.

On Sunday, March 30, 2003, Winger will be in Columbus, Georgia to take part in the Museums 50th Birthday Party festivities. Children who attend the 50th Birthday Party will be able to sign the giant card and participate in arts and crafts activities with Winger. InterArt and the Museum are also trying to get the most signatures ever on a single greeting card.
