Return to Innocence is a film based on Gary M. Frazier's 1994 controversial novel, Return to Innocence. It tells the story of a child psychologist who finds his life turned upside down when he is suddenly accused of sexually molesting a boy under his care. With that accusation, the stage is set for a dark, disturbing, and yet poignant tale of love, commitment, betrayal, forgiveness, and redemption and a riveting look at the processes and agendas involved in the prosecution of a child sex abuse case.
The film garnered promising reviews during its film festival/theatrical run, and was named a "Finalist" at the 2001 Rhode Island International Film Festival.
The special Collector's Edition DVD release of Return to Innocence is scheduled for April 15, 2003. The DVD offers never-before-seen special features, including bonus scenes, cast interviews and director's commentary.
Richard Meese stars with child actor, Andrew Martin in the film. Richard Meese is an acclaimed stage actor, having appeared in numerous plays throughout southern California.
