Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) January 10, 2008 -- The 37th Annual International Film Festival Rotterdam welcomes first time filmmaker Nicola Collins and her sister, Producer Teena Collins, to the line up. The sisters' documentary film, "The End," explores the fascinating complexity of the lives of their father and his Cockney gangster friends. These infamous criminals from London's East End shaped their war torn environment into a violent underworld.
This is the film's international debut and along with Duckin and Divin Productions Nicola is honored to premiere the film at Rotterdam's prestigious festival on January 26. The project is obviously an intimate undertaking for the first time director, "Throughout my life I've been asked about my father's occupation and I've always found it to be a difficult question to answer. My first film, 'The End,' is my way of communicating my answer to this very question. 'The End' is a story of human nature. It's an intimate exploration into the lives of real life Cockney gangsters. More so it's an accounting of their environment and the world that they created."
Through a series of unprecedented interviews with their father's friends and associates, "The End" reveals the bloody history and the heartfelt confessions of the most infamous Cockney gangsters in London. The exclusive access the sisters had to the Cockney gangster stars of the film depicts an honest look inside the lives of a group of men with a common bond; all were born into poverty in the East End of London and strived for a better life. Ironically, that better life is attained through crime. Unashamed and unapologetic, these men live their lives defined by a code of honor.
