Author Richard Bangs Hosts New HD Adventure Series

Hosted by Richard Bangs, who is often called "the father of modern adventure travel," Adventures with Purpose is the first episode for a new HDTV adventure travel, eco-conscience, and historical documentaries.

Harrington Park, NJ (PRWEB) January, 19, 2008 -- Janson Media today announced the release to international television, VOD, DVD/video, and new media markets of Richard Bangs' Adventures with a Purpose, a new HDTV series of adventure travel, eco-conscience, and historical documentaries. Co-executive producer and host Richard Bangs has often been called "the father of modern adventure travel." Bangs spent 30 years as an explorer, leading first descents of 35 rivers around the globe, including the Yangtze in China and the Zambezi in Southern Africa.

In the first episode of Adventures with a Purpose, Richard Bangs takes viewers up the Nile and deep into the heart of Egypt. "Egypt: Quest for the Lord of the Nile," tells the tale of a civilization inextricably bound to the waters of the Nile and its creatures. From Alexandria to Cairo, from the Great Pyramids at Giza, to the Valley of the Kings, Bangs explores the way the river and its fearsome Lord molded a society. Further upstream still, Bangs visits a temple at Kom Ombo dedicated to Sobek, the Crocodile God, and seeks the beast himself in the waters of Lake Nassar.

In "New Zealand: Quest for Kaitiakitanga," the second hour in the series, Bangs ventures to the southernmost reaches of civilization, in a down under world with an upright world-view. His journey takes viewers the length of this country, from the rugged Southern Alps to the remote tip of the North Island. Bangs hikes the Franz Joseph Glacier, takes a wild raft ride down the Kaituna River through sacred Maori land and waits for sperm whales to surface on a Whale Watch boat near the town of Kaikoura -- all as he searches for an age-old Maori concept that might hold a key to our planet's future.

Richard Bangs' Adventures with a Purpose is a coproduction of Small World Productions of Seattle, KCTS/Seattle, and Richard Bangs Productions of Marina del Rey, California. The pilot episode, "Egypt: Quest for the Lord of the Nile" is also the winner of two Silver Telly Awards in 2007. Both "Egypt: Quest for the Lord of the Nile" and "New Zealand: Quest for Kaitiakitanga" are now available to international television, VOD, DVD/video, and new media markets exclusively through Janson Media.
