April 28, 2003 (PRWEB) New Paltz, NY - At the invitation of President George W. Bush, Child Find of Americas Executive Director, Donna Linder, and Board Member Elizabeth Norton, have been invited to attend a ceremony at the Rose Garden Wednesday afternoon (April 30, 2003) announcing the passage of the AMBER Alert bill.

Child Find applauds the passing of this bill and it is an honor to be invited," states Linder. A coordinated, national AMBER Alert system is vital to safely and rapidly returning Americas missing children."

The AMBER (Americas Missing: Broadcast Emergency Response) Alert, named after Amber Hagerman, a Texas girl kidnapped and murdered in 1996, is a warning system using the media and warning tools like electronic highway signs, that helps track down kidnapped children and their abductor immediately after an abduction.

This will be Linders second trip to Washington, D.C., by Presidential invitation. Linder spoke at the first White House Conference on Missing, Exploited and Runaway Children in October 2002. The event was attended by more than 600 people, including Norton, who made headlines in July 2000 when her sons were abducted by their non-custodial father.

Child Find of America Inc., is a national not-for-profit organization that locates missing children through active investigation, prevents child abduction through education, and resolves incidents of parental abduction with mediation. Founded in 1980 by the mother of a missing child, Child Find has helped locate, return to a legal environment and positively impacted the lives of thousands of children.

In the 2001-2002 fiscal year, 94 cents of every dollar Child Find received was spent on its programs. Worth Magazine named Child Find one of Americas 100 Best Charities in December 2001 and Child Find received an A+ Top Charity" rating by the American Institute of Philanthropy, a nonprofit charity watchdog.
