Amherst, MA (PRWEB) Sunday night (5/4/03) was a the first step towards the big stage for Cold Duck Complex, a University of Massachusetts based electro-jazz hip hop band. Cold Duck Complex took the stage at the Mullins Center for a high energy 30 minute set in front of 2,500 fans as they opened for 50 Cent, Rahzel (Roots) and Reel Big Fish, who all appeared one after another throughout the course of the night. Band members include Joe Cardozo (bass), Platypus Complex (rhymes), Makaya McCraven (drums), and Jeff DAntona (keys).
The concert was part of UMASS Amhersts entertainment for the students. Cold Duck Complex won the UMASS 2003 Battle of The Bands, which is how they earned the right to be on the bill. The crowd was most receptive of the band, including the instrumental jazz ballads to the hard hitting hip hop lyrics of Platypus Complex. It was a huge rush to be playing on that stage, in such a large room, to a diverse crowd, many of whom hadn't seen us before. I was nervous leading up to our set, no doubt, and there were lots of distractions and peripheral things to think about, like the press conference. But once we got on stage, the adrenaline kicked in, and I just did my best to bring the energy the same as I would at any other show. I think we had people feeling it, and I was feeling it, and that's what counts," said Platypus.
The band has signed a deal with Dynamify Productions, a White Plains, NY based music management/booking agency in April of 2003. Dynamify has booked Cold Duck Complex into new markets for the band, such as New York City (May 9, 23), Boston, Philadelphia, Trenton, Utica, Syracuse, Burlington and other cities currently being added.
The band is making huge waves in support of their first release and will be hitting the studio again shortly for a second release due out in the fall of 2003, which will be the first release under Dynamify Productions. Im extremely psyched to be working with such a talented and diverse band, this bands going to be a major success," says Darren Herman, President of Dynamify Productions.
Dynamify Productions invites any members of the press to the Cold Duck Complex shows on May 9 (Lions Den, NYC) or May 23 (Elbow Room, NYC) to experience the spectacle. Please contact darren@dynamify.com or (914) 912-7992 for more information or to reserve your spot.
