East Egg Who? Local Pittsburgh Computer And Networking Company Focuses On Competing With The Big Guys By Providing Excellent Service For Minimum Prices. "East Egg who?" is the main response we get whenever we return a customer's message. Usually, a customer who is in dire need of computer assistance calls every number they can find under "Computers" in the Yellow Pages. They forget our name, mostly because they have called twenty different places, and they are waiting for a call back from a company called "Computer Doctor PC Specialists" or some such generic name.
"East Egg Traders." I then explain to them that we install, service, and maintain computers and networks for home users and small business, and the light goes on. "Oh yeah, you guys are that East Egg place. I called you and left a message." Then it sticks. We have such an unusual name that once the customer can wrap their mind around it, they will never forget it. Try to do that with one of the generically named computer places.
The name recognition is phenomenal. As a point of example, I always ask our customers how many messages they left with other companies. They usually respond with a high single digit number. "And how many have called you back?" "None. You are the first," is the usual answer, and they can never remember who it was they actually called without resorting back to the Yellow Pages. And that is the main reason we get the business. We always return our messages.
Our main advantage we have over all of our competitors is that we go to the customer, not the other way around. "When the Big Guys are too big to come to you," is our motto. So often our customers know they have a problem because their computer fails to work. They panic and have no idea who even to call. The retailer they bought it at? The manufacturer? Is there even a warranty? We take out all of that guess work. We come to them. We inspect and diagnose their system. We tell the customer what is wrong with their computer, what needs to be done to fix it, and we give them a firm and solid price on what it will cost to do the job.
We also are spending a lot to market towards the small businesses of Pittsburgh. The main selling point here is that all businesses need some sort of working network within their business, no matter what type of business they are in, in order to communicate with their customers and communicate with each other. But, the average small business cannot afford any kind of in-house IT department. We market ourselves as the answer to that problem. We are our small business customers' part-time IT department. In the end, the small business customer ends up saving a bundle in costs on replacing malfunctioning PCs and trying to recreate lost data.
We have the flexibility to bend with our customers' needs, and the need to set up long-term relationships with our customers.
