Titan II Missile Silo for auction on eBay. Burro Inn and Restaurant, 28 Acres and a Missile Silo Command Center up for grabs IwillSellyourSTUFF.com the company that sold the Missile Silohome on eBay last year for $2.1 Million, is bringing another unique property to the public using the auction block as its forum. Tubac, AZ (PRWEB) June 14 2003 -- In 1959 the Air Force completed the declaration of taking in Tucson Federal Court obtaining the land for 18 Titan II sites around Tucson. The Tubac site was the farthest south and the only one in Santa Cruz County. Per engineering drawings it was given the site number seven and the name was Tubac Mountain. Procurement was sent to Hayden Products. The drawings and specification for bid, 18 septic tanks, Mr. Hayden replied no bid on such a ridiculous and costly design. Mr. Hayden went so far as to take out ads in the Tucson newspaper to explain the Air forces ridiculous plans. The air force flew in top brass to meet with Mr. Hayden. Hayden said he was taken thru three security levels to a conference room with a table covered with documents stamped for eyes only". After the presentation explaining the likelihood a nuclear bomb was to hit, his reply was nobody would ever notice a little more SH__!" He finally agreed to a few changes to his standard tanks and they were made. The sites were activated in 1962 and decommissioned in 1982. Site seven silo was blown up on February 29, 1984.
In 1988, the Goshias were overtaken by the fantastic view from the top level of Tubac Mountains mesa and they decided to submit a sealed bid to the General Accounting Office in San Francisco. And started design ideas for a start up resort. The Goshias located most items, well reservoir etc. except the assess portal to the command module, the portal was later found when putting gas line to the suites in 1992. Construction started in 1991, opening the restaurant in January 1992 and four two-room suites, six months later. Attending the Tucson rodeo February 1946, Pete the owner fell in love with Burros, after watching the anics of the clown that had trained his burro to perform.
The following December, Pete attending the Little Outfit Ranch and Boarding School, located 15 miles east of Patagonia, for his asthma wrote to his parents in Toledo, Ohio that all he wanted for Christmas was $15.00 to buy a Burro. Knowing to impending disappointment the housemother bought Pete a stuffed Burro that Pete named Louie. Pete decided to name the resort the Burro Inn and have his Burro at last. Of coarse the first burro named was Louie. In a panic prior to the grand opening a construction worker said he could get a gentle burro by opening day. It did not matter that Louie turned out to be a female Mediterranean burro with perky ears and spindly legs. Several weeks later Pete bought the other burro, the ranch had a French breed with shaggy hair, droopy ears, potbelly and stubby legs. Andrew and Louie have led a pampered resort retirement at Burro Inn. For the past 11 years.
Burro Inn is located a mile west of interstate 19, a major corridor for import-export with Mexico, Tubac exit #40. Midway between the new Desert Diamond casino exit 80(Pima Mine Road) to the north and the Mexico border to the south, which can only be described as booming. Burro Inn is an island in state forest, elevated for a Grandview of the majestic Santa Cruz river valley.
The only preserved Titan two site, out of 54, is a museum 25 miles north in Green Valley. Site seven abandoned under ground relic of the cold war dovetails with the Tubac Presidio (Spanish Fort) state park excavation viewed through glass underground. Three miles south of Tubac the Tumacacori Mission is being restored by the U.S. Park service. Tubac is noted for its variety of unique shops and galleries.
The Goshias, Pete and Pat decided that it was time to hang it up for a late retirement. The restaurant was closed in January 2002 due to Pete and Pats illnesses. Unable to find the right party to continue the development of this unique resort site to it full potential, They decided the best exposure would be to auction on Ebay hoping the perfect match is found.
