Lake Linden, MI (PRWEB) February 20, 2008 -- Ever wonder how a painting came to be? How the artist took a blank canvas and a selection of paints and produced a vibrant, detailed painting? Where, and how, did the artist start? Artist Kerrie Shiel has launched a website that can help answer those questions. RideTheWildBrush.com showcases the breadth of her work and includes a collection of step-by-step videos showing the stages of several paintings as she developed them. She calls these her Online Visual Tutorials and is developing more to be uploaded to the website soon.

Shiel's online artwork demonstrates her wide-ranging skill and interests, earned through decades of painting and observing. From lighthouses to aviation and wildlife to mythology, Shiel paints what intrigues her, riding her wild brush through realms both real and imaginary.

In 2006, Shiel launched the Michigan Lighthouse Collection of paintings to showcase the historic and picturesque lighthouses of Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Michigan Technological University's Van Pelt Library purchased her Jacobsville Lighthouse painting for its permanent collection.

Commenting on the Michigan Lighthouse Collection, Michigan Senator Debbie Stabenow (sponsor of the Michigan Lighthouse and Maritime Heritage Act) said, "What a wonderful tribute to these historic landmarks!"

RideTheWildBrush.com also showcases her successful Cessna Warbirds Series of aviation paintings, 14 paintings of Cessna aircraft that served in the U.S. armed forces. In 2006, the Experimental Aircraft Association selected, through a juried competition, one of them ("Hit My Smoke") for display in the AirVenture Museum in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Other aviation subjects include the legendary Lockheed T-33 Shooting Star and Piper J-3 Cub.

Last year, Shiel began a new series of paintings, this time representing her view of the world of fairies and mythology. The series now includes six different images of fairies and one depicting a Celtic variation of the Lady in the Lake myth. Other art subjects include animals (such as cats, horses, and deer) and floral still life. More paintings in her already established subject areas are in work.
