SportsLiter Solutions Participates in 'Extreme Makeover: Home Edition' Project Renovations to University of Louisville band’s practice field helps blind, disabled trumpeter. Greenville, SC (PRWEB) February 20, 2008 -- Hubbell Lighting SportsLiter Solutions (http://www.sportslighting.com/) is proud to announce its participation in a project for Emmy Award-winning “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.”
SportsLiter Solutions donated its SportsLiter Pack for the renovation of The University of Louisville’s band practice field to benefit a blind, disabled band member.
On Nov. 7, the Hughes family of Louisville, Ky. received news that Ty Pennington and the gang of “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” would renovate their house into a safer and more accessible home for their son, Patrick Henry, who is part of the University of Louisville (http://www.louisville.edu/) School of Music Marching and Pep Band.
The show also announced they would renovate the University of Louisville’s practice field to assist Henry when he plays trumpet for the marching band.
Patricia and Patrick John Hughes’s eldest son, Patrick Henry, 19, was born blind and without the ability to fully straighten his arms and legs, leaving him unable to walk. During practice, Patrick Henry tirelessly maneuvers his wheel chair through the formations with more than 220 members with help from his father.
The SportsLiter Pack is a sports lighting system that is packaged for practice, intramural, or general sports lighting installations. Available in three configurations – baseball, football and soccer – the SportsLiter Pack provides illumination levels and uniformity for general-purpose recreational applications.
According to Cornett, most sports lighting projects require a six- to 10-week lead-time to ship. Because the SportsLiter Pack is stocked and arrives on site in a few weeks in a complete package, this flexibility allowed SportsLiter Solutions (http://www.sportslighting.com/) to respond to the show’s request for immediate shipment.
“SportsLiter Solutions is proud to be part of this very special project with ‘Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,'" said Cornett. “Patrick Henry is a true inspiration, and it has been an honor to help renovate the practice field that has brought so much joy to him and his band members.” The episode “Hughes Family” first aired on Feb. 17, 2008.
