Stand-up comedian takes first straight" acting role at Edinburgh Festival

Stand-up comedian Andy Pandini will be playing the role of a spiteful dead queer" in his straight acting debut at this years Edinburgh Festival.

Rather than feature in the 341 stand-up comedy shows available to festival-goers, Pandini has chosen to take a lead role in the new play Non-Scene by Brian Fillis, writer of last years highly-acclaimed Fear of Fanny ('The Fillis brothers are two lugubrious scousers who have created a deft piece of theatre that avoids easy laughs -- Sunday Times)

Non-Scene centres on Lionel, a repressed, passive homosexual psychopath who brings young gay men back to his flat. Once hes murdered them, its time for some decent conversation, as their lifeless bodies become his characters. The play acting is, of course, filtered through Lionels rather warped view of the world, making for some sparkling dialogue

"Im really excited about being part of this show" says Pandini. "Its something a bit different, yet feels right for me as a performer. While Im in Edinburgh, Ill also be performing my stand-up routine at various comedy venues, but I hope that my part in Non-Scene will be the start of many straight roles. Mind you, Id also quite like a radio show, too, if anyones offering."

Non-Scene is at the Garage (venue 81) from 3rd -- 25th August (not 13th or 18th) at 17:10.
