Obituaries Go Hi-Tech The Blog of Death (http://www.blogofdeath.com), a Weblog highlighting obituaries of the famous, infamous and interesting unknowns, was featured in The York Daily Record today. (PRWEB) July 31, 2003 Cyberspace, July 29, 2003 -- The Blog of Death (http://www.blogofdeath.com), a Weblog highlighting obituaries of the famous, infamous and interesting unknowns, was featured in The York Daily Record this week. In an article written by Joan Concilio, The Blog of Death was spotlighted for publishing stories of the recently deceased for free on the Internet. Other Websites that offer paid obituaries written by funeral homes were also promoted. The Blog of Death is written by Jade Walker, a Seattle-based writer/editor with a passion for obits. When she was the overnight editor/producer of The New York Times on the Web, she published the Obits section every evening. She spent a year working on the Portraits of Grief, a collection of obit-briefs on the Sept. 11th victims, and as the editor of Inscriptions Magazine, she wrote a hugely popular R.I.P. section of writer obits. ÂThe paid sites offer themselves as a notification service. The Blog of Death is a site that goes one step beyond simple notification. With each obit I write, I search the Internet for interesting facts and Web sites about my subject. Then I try to enlighten my readers with these life stories," Walker said.
