Restless Minds - August 2003 Show The latest show from Restless Minds shows that the presenters and the show have got into gear and are powering their way through the world of the amazing, astounding and just plain wierd. Presenters Fiona Watson, Moray Jones and Lucy Dann, with an able assist from reporter Kamal Prashar give you monthly brain shake. The line up for the August show is:
Tales of the Wierd: A continuing part work ('building up piece by piece to make a nice leather bound collection') that features mysteries of the unknown from Big Foot to Atlantis, from Telekinesis to Stonehenge and many more. This show features the case of Mike, the headless chicken. In the 1940's a hero was born, or rather hatched. This hero was Mike a rooster who didnt lose his head even when he lost his head. Hear his heartwarming tale and wonder at the love and care showered on him when he was a big star.
Krypton Komics: In the second and final interview presenter Moray Jones talks to Gary Ochiltree about the later developments in the world of comics. Taking us from the 50's when horror comics seemed to have the upper hand through to the present day when it seems like very character and their dog has been turned into a Hollywood movie. Gary runs Krypton Komics in Tottenham, North London but that doesnt stop him from selling to the world via his website.
Craniosacral Therapy: Regular presenter Fiona Watson also works as a therapist. (Yes it's true, we don't work her hard enough here in the Restless Minds offices!) Among the range of skills she has, from aromatherapy to holistic massage, she also does Craniosacral Therapy. This non-intrusive gentle but deep therapy is in it's relative infancy but many people have recieved significant benefits from it. Fiona gives a brief rundown of what is quite a complex subject.
Pericles by Cardboard Citizens and the Royal Shakespeare Company: A review of a rather unusual prodcution of Shakespeare's Pericles in a massive warehouse complex in Southwark.
Romano-Celtic Bourgeoisie: In the side roads of South London the builders are moving in. On Tabard Street excavations for a new block of flats and shops revealed a completley unexpected treasure trove of artefacts that have changed the way we think of Roman London. Under layers of medieval remains a temple complex slowly gave up its secrets with an inscription to Londoners, bronze statues and even what is thought of be a cosmetic cream in a finely crafted perfectly sealed pot. The Restless Minds team always like to know what is under the ground they walk on so we thought we'd find out more.
Tales From Suffolk: Presenter Lucy Dann, a Suffolk lass, takes us on a creepy scary journey through the history, myths and legends that are part of her childhood. From mystery green children to sunken towns and ghostly dogs that can kill with a bark. Be afraid, be very afraid!
Darwin Awards: The Darwins are dedicated to showing that the great scientist was right when it came to the survival of the fittest.
