Caspari Award for Excellence in Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine at the 4th Biennial Congress of The International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine (ISAKOS) held in Auckland, New Zealand.

Dr. Plancher is a Harvard trained orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in injuries to the shoulder, elbow and knee. Among his patients are professional athletes, weekend warriors and “mature adults” who want to continue an active, sports lifestyle. His motto is “we keep you in the game”.

Using minimally invasive arthroscopic procedures, Dr. Plancher specializes in rotator cuff repairs and also performs meniscus implants to replace damaged cartilage in the knee. At the Congress, Dr. Plancher demonstrated how he discovered that chronic pain in the back of the shoulder or between the shoulder blades can indicate that increasing pressure could squeeze a nerve. “This simple procedure enables surgeons to use an instrument called an arthroscope to release the ligament through two small holes in the back of the shoulder can become an affective way to relieve chronic, unremitting shoulder pain.”
