(PRWEB) August, 2003 -- It was a sudden and surprise happening in late June of this year. His Excellency most Rev. Lawrence Khai, Archbishop of Thare-Nonseng Archdiocese in Thailand, paid a visit to our Miles Jesu communities in Chicago. When Miles Jesu members Brad Poore and Jeff Olson picked His Excellency up at the airport, he told them, I would like to apply for membership in Miles Jesu."

This saintly archbishop and long-time friend of Miles Jesu spent the night with us and recounted his stunning personal history of the Buddhist persecutions of Catholics that took place in Thailand in the late 1930s, early 1940s. At that time, the Archbishop was a 12-year-old seminary student who found himself along with his classmates beaten and threatened with death repeatedly if they would not renounce their faith and worship Buddha. This only served to strengthen their faith.

Archbishop Khai then presented us with a relic of the seven blessed martyrs of Thailand, among them several children, a young nun and a catechist, who readily died for their faith during the persecution in a neighboring village to that of young Lawrence. This relic," the Archbishop said, is for the Miles Jesu communities in Ukraine."

He then took time to show us a video of a weeping Madonna statue in his archdiocese of Thare-Nonseng which is drawing ever-increased attention from the public, Christian and Buddhist alike. The simplicity and genuineness of Archbishop Khais heart was all the more evident when he spoke of Our Ladys call to personal conversion; his heart is on fire to console the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Archbishop Khai is the eighth bishop member of Miles Jesu. You carefully select your bishop, Father," one such member commented to Father General some time ago. Yes," Father replied, absolute communion with the Holy Father and the Magisterium of the Church is the utmost criteria."

On behalf of Father General and all the members of Miles Jesu worldwide, it is with great joy and fraternal love that we welcome Archbishop Khai to our Miles Jesu faith family.
