Ralph Assistive Technology products now marketed in American Northwest BNS Enterprises signs on as Dealer for Ralph assistive technology products for American Northwest. Ralph is an Assistive technology for handicapped and elderly that uses advanced artificial intellegence to become a companion and helper. Ralph creates an intelligent house that actually talks to occupants. Centralia, WA (PRWEB) August 21, 2003 -- BNS Enterprises of Centralia, WA entered into a dealer agreement with Corpier Consulting Services of Sedalia, MO. to begin sales and marketing efforts for new Voice controlled assistive technology product to help people with disabilities, by providing home automation, monitoring, security and reminder functions in the Washington and Oregon area.
The product uses advanced artificial intelligence technology to provide a virtual assistant that can carry on a conversation with the homes occupants. This same technology allows the system to retrieve and monitor news, weather and television information from the nternet and present it to the user verbally. An enhancement option allows the system to do internet searches for information when asked a question it does not know the answer to.
The system was originally developed for a client, Don Holbert, who is physically handicapped and needed some way to stay in his own home independently after his wife passed away. She had always done the little things" around their home, like turning on and off ceiling fans and lights, opening and closing the drapes and blinds, going to the door when someone came, reminding him to take medications and other appointments, being there to call for help if he needed it, and hundreds of other things we all take for granted.
Don named the system Ralph" after a friend, and the name has stuck, the product is called Ralph" -- which stands for Real Assistive Living for the Physically Handicapped".
Greg Corpier, the system creator sums up the product: The system has been in operation in the clients home for over 2 years and has proven to be so successful we have decided to make it available to others who can benefit from its use". The system costs from $3500 to $6000 depending on options and specific needs of each client.
Don says of the system: I would have had to either sell my home and move to an assisted care facility or pay someone to move in with me, and Im to darn independent to do either of those things, Ralph has been a blessing to me and let me stay in my own home and live like I want to."
Mr. Holbert says the system can help anyone with physical handicaps, but can also allow the elderly to stay in their own homes. A lot of people end up going to a nursing home because they forget to take their medicine or need someone to watch out for them in case they fall or need help, and Ralph can do those things in their own home for a lot less money than an assistive care facility costs."
The system is designed to be as non-invasive as possible. The system makes extensive usage of wireless technology to make installation as flexible as possible and not require extensive modifications to the home.
A version of the technology is also available for conventional home automation uses such as controlling home theater systems, whole house audio and video control, and luxury items throughout the home.
Corpier Consulting Services has provided technology solutions to individuals, small and medium sized businesses for over 20 years. The company focuses on ways to improve the quality of life through assistive technologies as well as general purpose computing solutions.
