The Mitchel Field office of UBS, the global financial services and investment banking firm, will donate $34,000 to The MIRACLE (Making In Roads Against Cancer’s Lasting Effects) Foundation, a nonprofit cancer organization. The Mitchel Field UBS office will donate the money for a naming opportunity within the MIRACLE Building, a state-of-the-art cancer treatment facility which is to be built at Mercy Medical Center in Rockville Centre.

The MIRACLE Building will be fully staffed by employees of the prestigious Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. It will play a critical role in the delivery of cancer treatment, giving patients an option to receive premier cancer treatment without having to travel to New York City.

“We are very excited about this donation and truly grateful to the people in the UBS Mitchel Field office for their continued support,” said Joe Castronovo, President of The MIRACLE Foundation.

The MIRACLE Foundation spearheaded the creation of The MIRACLE Building and has pledged a minimum of $1 million towards the building.

“Since the Foundation’s creation, UBS has been one of our staunchest supporters. The special contribution from the Mitchel Field office will help us to improve cancer care on Long Island by providing an opportunity for more people to receive state-of-the-art cancer treatment closer to home.”

“Giving back to the community is very important to our office,” explained Robert C. Clark, Branch Manager of UBS Mitchel Field. “We’ve seen great accomplishments in the Long Island community as result of The MIRACLE Foundation’s efforts. We wanted to become more involved with their work and felt that contributing to the MIRACLE Building was one way to fulfill our goal.”

The MIRACLE Foundation, a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization, was founded by Michael and Patti Tenaglia, after Michael was diagnosed with esophageal cancer in 1998. The MIRACLE Foundation is dedicated to improving the lives of those diagnosed with cancer and to finding a cure for the disease.

Integral to its mission are improving patient care, increasing cancer awareness and funding worthy scientific research. It focuses on raising funds to support the work of both individuals and organizations that can help achieve the Foundation’s goals.
