First Annual BPR Original Song Competition To Help Launch Careers Berkeley Park Records (BPR) announces the first annual BPR Original Song Competition. BPR is an independent record label that produces, promotes and distributes music in the Rock, Pop, R&B and Hip Hop genres. The competition provides an opportunity for unknown songwriters, original solo artists and indie bands from around the world to get their music heard by top music industry professionals. Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) August 20, 2003 --- Berkeley Park Records (BPR) announces the first annual BPR Original Song Competition. BPR is an independent record label that produces, promotes and distributes music in the Rock, Pop, R&B and Hip Hop genres. The competition provides an opportunity for unknown songwriters, original solo artists and indie bands from around the world to get their music heard by top music industry professionals. The competition runs September 1, 2003 through March 1, 2004 and is open to all unsigned songwriter/artists who are interested in having their songs recorded, published and distributed. Winners will be announced April 15, 2004.
Among the panel of judges are such distinguished artists as: the legendary H.B. Barnum, producer/arranger/conductor for Aretha Franklin, Lou Rawls, The Supremes, The Jackson 5, Frank Sinatra and many others; Mel Carter, with a remarkable career as a recording artist/vocalist extraordinaire with multiple hits including "Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me"; Roger Smith, recording artist/songwriter/producer and keyboard player for Tower of Power who has just finished producing albums for Tower of Power and the Average White Band; Larry Lynch, formerly the drummer and a vocalist with the Greg Kihn Band and has toured with the Rolling Stones, Peter Gabriel and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, among others; Nolan Shaheed, former music director for Marvin Gaye and Diana Ross, world class trumpet player and owner of No Sound Studio in Pasadena, California; and Dave Terry, recording artist/songwriter/producer and founder of Berkeley Park Records.
In addition to cash and merchandise prizes, the top 10 winners will perform in the BPR Original Song Showcase in Los Angeles on Saturday, June 5, 2004 for an invited entertainment industry audience. The grand prizewinner will receive a trip to Hollywood for the showcase and will headline the evening. All winning songs will be included on a compilation CD being produced and distributed on the BPR label. BPR will give every participant a professional evaluation of each song they submit. Sponsors and additional prizes are being added.
