BLUE SKY RESEARCH RELEASES CHROMALASE 405 VIOLET LASER

High Performance, Low Cost 405nm Laser Module for Spectroscopy, Microscopy, and Biomedical

MILPITAS, CA (PRWEB) August 25, 2003 --- Blue Sky Research, a manufacturer of laser systems, modules and components, announced today that the company is releasing its ChromaLASE 405 laser diode module. The ChromaLASE 405 is a complete 405nm solid state laser diode module that delivers 25mW output power, with improved beam pointing and stability in a single, compact assembly.

The Blue Sky Research ChromaLASE 405 features a 25mW output laser diode with proprietary beam-collimating optics that generates a circular, diffraction-limited, low-divergence beam. The module includes a thermoelectric cooler and integrated 6.5V dc power supply, drive and control electronics. A variable power control operated by a potentiometer on the rear of the laser housing makes power adjustment simple. The laser module measures 38mm x 158mm, and is designed for direct mounting to circular, square, or standard 44.5mm HeNe laser holders. The ChromaLASE 405 is a complete laser system, requiring no external power conditioning, control boxes, or fan cooling.

Many next-generation applications like Bio-Medical instrumentation, high-resolution printing and high-density data storage rely on 405nm, or violet lasers," said Chris Gladding, President and CEO of Blue Sky Research. The ChromaLASE 405 should be the preferred laser source for many of these systems. Power, beam quality, size, reliability, and cost-- there really is no comparison."

The ChromaLASE 405 offers best-in-class performance. Output power of 25mW is very stable at less than 3.0% over 8 hours, with noise less than 0.25% RMS. Beam pointing is exceptionally stable at less than 25 mrad with beam divergence of less than 1mrad. This performance also comes with solid state reliability. Pricing is significantly less than competing violet lasers. The ChromaLASE 405 is in full-scale manufacturing now and is available in OEM quantities. Custom configurations are available upon request.
