ACCC Provides a Financial Boost for the Young Offender Program ACCC issues a grant to Community Partners in Action Newton, MA (PRWEB) March 16, 2008 -- American Consumer Credit Counseling has contributed through the Partnership for the Advancement of Financial Literacy (PAL) program once again. With their latest PAL grant, ACCC has provided funds for the Community Partners in Action, Young Offender Program. These funds will cover a variety of program expenses including: participant transportation, writing materials, and administrative costs as well. This grant will help to insure that clients receive quality financial education.
Through the Young Offender Program, located in Hartford, CT, juvenile delinquent clients are assigned (by the court) to participate while they await disposition of their cases. In some cases, clients are referred to the program as part of their probation terms. The students attend classes at the Alternative Learning Center, or are monitored in Public High Schools. The program runs once a week, for 6 weeks, and new enrollees are accepted on rolling admission.
The program seeks to educate students in the areas of personal financial management. The topics that are covered, but not limited to, include: financial goal setting, budgeting, and understanding credit. ACCC is proud to be involved with an organization that provides financial education to individuals who otherwise might not have the opportunity to get it on their own.
