Printer ink and toner supplier boosts sales up to 40% by selling online. Participating in BayanTrade opens up wider, more profitable market Manila, Philippines (PRWEB) August, 2003 -- Quartz Business Products Corporation (QBPC), a local printer ink and toner distributor, has boosted sales revenues up to 40% by selling online through BayanTrade. QBPC vice president Grace de Guzman said, BayanTrade dramatically increased our revenues by providing a unique, profitable marketing channel that gave us access to a wider market and enhanced visibility for the companys products."
The company was recently conferred BayanTrades Best Supplier for Serving the Most Number of Customers" award, given annually by BayanTrade. As the title of the award suggests, QBPC supplies more buyers than any other supplier in the BayanTrade community.
QBPC joined BayanTrades online trading community in 2001 and almost immediately began receiving large but steady orders for printer ink and toner items from such big-name companies as Ayala Corporation, JG Summit, Unilab, Aboitiz, and the Lopez Group of Companies. The company has added fifty new companies to its customer base, according to De Guzman.
As a result, we were able to increase our annual sales revenues up to 40%. Online selling amplified our earnings and gave us an edge over our competitors," De Guzman said.
Although QBPC built its business selling the traditional way, the company attributes its success with e-commerce to a corporate culture that embraces change, including opportunities to leverage leading-edge technology. e-Commerce is already happening and we do not want to lag behind. With BayanTrade, we have embraced a technology that puts us ahead of the competition and sustains our market position."
De Guzman said BayanTrades e-Catalog service allows QBPC to post items with descriptions on electronic product directories that can be accessed by BayanTrades pool of 250 buying organizations. At present, QBPC has over 100 stock keeping units (SKUs) or specific printer inks and toner products on sale on BayanTrades Internet procurement facility. This provides QBPC a new, virtual distribution channel for our products, and makes it easier for our customers to access information," said De Guzman.
BayanTrade president Dante Briones explained that the e-Catalog facility allows customers to view QBPCs product specifications and order online which eliminates tedious steps such as calling for and faxing product requisitions, preparing order documents, and even going to the store to shop for items."
In one recent month QBPC processed POs worth approximately P500,000 for a BayanTrade customer. And since everything was done online - from product posting, sending of POs, to settlement of payments - sales cycle time was significantly reduced, according to De Guzman.
Founded in 1981, QBPC began operations distributing typewriter ribbons and inks to businesses in Metro Manila. With the arrival and adoption of PCs and electronic printers, the company expanded its product line and its distribution network to include Bataan, Laguna, Batangas and Cavite. At present, it has fifty employees in its Makati office.
The adoption of BayanTrades procurement technology is a success story for QBPC. We were able to win new customers, keep them updated on product information, and process transactions efficiently. e-Commerce has provided a small organization like us with tools that enhanced our sales operations, and eventually, increased our profits," said De Guzman.
