(PRWEB) March 21, 2008 -- On Friday, March 28th, 2008 at 9:45 A.M. Jacob International (www.jacobintl.org) in conjunction with Congregation B'nai Israel, 2200 Yamato Road, Boca Raton, Florida 33431 are hosting the first genetic testing event for hereditary breast and ovarian cancer.

Jacob International is a non profit organization whose mission is to educate the public about the high risk of hereditary breast and ovarian cancer among Ashkenazi Jewish women. Jacob International promotes genetic testing among Ashkenazi Jewish women whose family history suggests that there might be a genetic connection. Jacob International was founded by the late Lori Sklar, past member of Congregation B'nai Israel, whose breast cancer was the result of a genetic mutation.

Melanie Bone, a genetic risk assessment expert and noted medical columnist, will discuss the hereditary risk for Ashkenazi Jewish women and the benefits of genetic testing. In addition, attendees will have an opportunity to set up appointments with Melanie Bone for genetic testing at a later date or to obtain referrals for genetic testing which they can take to their primary physician.
