Goldster, a popular cash for gold company based out of Tampa, Florida, is in the process of developing a community beautification project in conjunction with Habitat for Humanity. Both Goldster and Habitat for Humanity work on projects to help their communities throughout the year, but this project is one that will encompass more than any previous effort.

Habitat for Humanity is known nationwide for providing housing to individuals and families who otherwise would not be able to afford shelter. These homes are built by volunteers and have benefitted countless people since the organization's foundation.

Goldster has helped the Tampa Bay community by sponsoring several events and school functions. Most of Goldster's efforts have been geared toward underprivileged children and funding school activities, but a member of the Community Outreach Program at Goldster, Lonnie Thompkins, noticed that the area could really use a facelift. Although Habitat for Humanity had come in and built housing a few years earlier, the tenants did not have the extra income to maintain the property.

"I was driving home one day and realized that these houses were in good shape, they just needed to be maintained. Goldster has been trying to figure out what to do for its next Community Outreach Project, and I thought it would be a great idea to team up with Habitat for Humanity to give these buildings a good cleaning and enhance the curb appeal. This is a great neighborhood, and with a little work it will really shine," said Thompkins.

In an effort to target the work that is most needed, Goldster has put together a review for the members of the community to fill out. Goldster's review lists different services that could be offered over the length of the project and asks community members to simply check off the ones they think will make the most impact on the area. This review, said Goldster representative Carly Menders, "is one of the best ways to see what the community needs. We can use the information these reviews provide to really get to the heart of the aspects of home maintenance people in this area need help with."

After filling out a Goldster community review, participants will simply mail the form back to Goldster, where the votes will be counted. Then Goldster and Habitat for Humanity will use the reviews to determine which services should be tackled first. Anything from pressure washing and landscaping to installing more attractive mailboxes and more accessible house numbers is listed on the review.

Goldster and Habitat for Humanity have not yet determined a timeline for their project, but are sure that their efforts will prove beneficial not only to the appearance of the community, but to the value of the homes within it as well.
