"Responding to a deluge of e-mails and phone calls during the sports season is a challenge faced by every league commissioner and coach. That's why we launched Vikaza.com (http://www.vikaza.com), a free-and-easy-to-use team community site designed to dramatically reduce time spent on team administration by coaches managing soccer, baseball, lacrosse and other team sports. There is no better way to promote our customers than by rewarding the loyal teams with cash sponsorships. After all, everyone can use a break from organizing bake sales," said Vikaza.com co-founder, Sastry Chundury.
Vikaza has been designed to reduce stress among coaches, parents and players in a myriad of sports -- including baseball and soccer. The idea for the team-site centric concept was inspired by one of Chundury's friends, who found managing the year-round softball and swimming schedules of three daughters frustrating.
Vikaza features a custom-built component to automatically consolidate the entire family's sports schedule in one calendar to simplify time management for active families.
Since its beta launch in August 2007, hundreds of youth sports coaches have used it to build their team Web sites.
"I used e-mails until I was introduced to Vikaza. Now, there is no more handing out paper calendars and e-mailing schedule spreadsheets for me," said Bill Eskola, an 8U softball team coach. "It was so easy to change the online calendar and inform parents when I had to cancel a game recently. Having the team news, photos, maps and schedules in one place is much more convenient than sending everything in e-mails. Although we started using it in the middle of the season, we were able to set it up pretty quickly. I am looking forward to using it again next season."
Vikaza is designed so that a coach can set up his/her team site in less than five minutes. League coordinators are urged to contact Vikaza directly for verification and receive authorization to set up their leagues online.
