However, take care when reaching for your feather duster this week as 51% of Britons cite breaking a mirror as the mother of all bad omens. The UK's fascination with fortune, fate and the paranormal are laid bare in the survey¹ released today by Foxy Bingo, supporting the launch of its fun 'Mystic Foxy's Fortune Telling Emporium' game.

London, UK (PRWEB) April 2, 2008 -- The weekend's seasonably mild weather will see households across the land gearing up for a spring clean. However, take care when reaching for your feather duster this week as 51% of Britons cite breaking a mirror as the mother of all bad omens! The UK's fascination with fortune, fate and the paranormal are laid bare in the survey¹ released today by Foxy Bingo (http://www.foxybingo.com/), supporting the launch of its fun 'Mystic Foxy's Fortune Telling Emporium' game.

Runner up in the bad omen stakes is having a black cat walking across your path. A particular bug-bear of men, with 22% claiming it to be the worst omen. Although this is nothing compared to the fear 33% of people in Middlesbrough fear when they see a solitary magpie in the road. Although this could have more to do with their Northeast footballing rivals Newcastle United -- aka, the Magpies.

Years of watching Mystic Meg, Uri Geller and Derren Brown on TV have clearly left an impression on us Brits, with 32% citing visiting a psychic (http://www.mysticfoxy.com/) as their number one choice, should they be seeking guidance from the paranormal. However, popular astrologers such as Russell Grant have obviously also left their mark with 22% of women turning to horoscopes. The pull of the astrologer is strongest in Manchester with 36% choosing it as their favourite, compared to only17% in Bristol.

Britons are most superstitious when it comes to their love-lives, unsurprisingly, with 63% of women likely to be holding out for that 'tall, dark, stranger'. Interestingly though almost a quarter of men (24%), also look to the paranormal when it comes to finding 'Miss Right'. People in Liverpool are particularly superstitious when it comes to sport (42%) in stark contrast to only 11% of sports fans in Nottingham.

Almost 3 out of 5 of Brits (58%) turn to the mystic (http://www.mysticfoxy.com/) world at least once a month, with 11% of women consulting it daily. That's not to say that we're completely a nation of believers as 32% of men and women reveal that they never thank their lucky stars. Whether or not you're an avid subscriber to the stars, tea leaves or tarot cards you can certainly have some light-hearted fun with 'Mystic Foxy's Fortune Telling Emporium' (http://www.mysticfoxy.com/) and bag yourself a free £10 bingo game in the process.

About Foxy Bingo

www.foxybingo.com

Foxy Bingo began life in June 2005 with two small game rooms and chat rooms. From the start we prided ourselves on being a close-knit family of players. Our little community of like-minded bingo souls quickly grew as the word spread through our TV advertising, featuring the now familiar face of Foxy.

Foxy Bingo has grown massively from the start of 2007 and we now have 14 game rooms, featuring both 75 ball and 90 ball bingo, and tickets costing from as little as 10p. Despite our quick growth we are still committed to building a close and vibrant community of players and keeping to the ideals which we held dear from our launch.
