Unreleased Curtis Knight Masters Offered For Sale

Never released 24-track studio master recordings of songs written and performed by Curtis Knight, the man credited with the discovery of Jimi Hendrix, are being offered for sale.

Curtis Knight, the man who has been credited with the discovery of Jimi Hendrix, died on November 29, 1999 in Lelystad-Haven, Flevoland, the Netherlands of prostate cancer. He was a prolific writer with 178 songs listed with BMI. Many of those songs were recorded on 24-track masters but never released to the public, which is a shame because he wrote some of the most interesting and beautiful songs, unique in style and delivery. As Curtis Knights business partner for 16 ½ years in the Golden Sphinx Record Label, as well as the Knight Management and Production Company, I am in the unique position of having 24 track studio master recordings of songs written and performed by Curtis Knight that have never been released and which I am now offering to any interested party.

Curtis Knight is best remembered for the Capital albums he recorded with Jimi Hendrix, such as Flashing" and Get That Feeling", but he spent a lot of time in the recording studio over the years and there is a lot of unreleased music which deserves to be heard.

During the 7 years of Curtis' sojourn in the Netherlands, where his life ended, he recorded three new CDs: "Mean Green" (Universe/Virgin), Long Live Rock and Roll (Golden Sphinx Records), and "On The Road Again (Columbia/Virgin). He also recorded with Jan Akkerman and a group called "Half Past Midnight" (the Mean Green album).

Together with Martin Weber-C, Curtis founded the Double Rainbow/Happy Dream Music Label in 1999 where he wrote and co-produced "Double Rainbow Collections" volumes I, II, and III. Volume I was just ready to be released when Curtis died.

Curtis wrote and had published, two books on the life of Jimi Hendrix: "Jimi: An Intimate Biography of Jimi Hendrix" and "Starchild" both on the life of Jimi Hendrix. He was working on another book, "The Wind Cries" which traces the history of music as an in-depth chronicle of the life, death and aftermath of Jimi Hendrix and other musicians who had touched the world through their music and how their music effected our lives.
