The addition comes in response to requests from small companies for an efficient and cost-effective way to let team members share up-to-the-minute information without creating additional infrastructure.

IcTracker lets work groups define their common activities using a simple but powerful project/task/problem model. Application-agnostic document storage makes it possible to access all relevant resources from anywhere inside the product. The Staff Contacts feature, new in version 3.0, makes sending email to project stakeholders all but instantaneous. “Our interface is continually improving, thanks to the feedback we get from users,” Idachi said. “How they use the software definitely influences what they need. And we’re still small enough to be willing to ‘customize’ the product, as part of our own development process.”

Originally created as a bug-tracking tool for software developers, IcTracker soon proved to be useful for all kinds of information sharing, version tracking, and task management. Designed for use in a Windows environment, IcTracker maintains its own small footprint by leveraging the Microsoft applications users already own. Instead of duplicating database functionality, the application interfaces with SQL server.

“We sell and support IcTracker on the Internet,” Harry Idachi said, of his decision to provide a web-based version of the application. “It’s a good way to do business. It only makes sense to let our users take advantage of the same, essentially free bandwidth.”
