Second Annual LOOK3 Festival of the Photograph Thousands of photography professionals and enthusiasts converge on Charlottesville, Virginia to celebrate and share their passion. Festival Passes on Sale at http://www.look3.org Charlottesville, VA (PRWEB) April 7, 2008 Photographers from around the world will once again turn their focus to Charlottesville, Virginia, for the second annual LOOK3 Festival of the Photograph, taking place in venues throughout the city from June 12 - 14, 2008. The Festival, affectionately described as "three days of peace, love and photography," brings together photographers and enthusiasts from around the world to celebrate the careers of legendary artists, emerging talent and the best work from the past year, from photojournalism to fine art. Highlights of the three-day Festival include gallery exhibitions and interviews with renowned photographers Mary Ellen Mark, Joel-Peter Witkin, and James Nachtwey; "Shots," a multi-media showcase of exceptional new work by a selection of photographers from around the world, transforming an abandoned warehouse for the evening with projected images and audience; and "Works," the Festival's grand-finale, a dynamic presentation of work by twenty celebrated photographers, projected onto a giant screen in a covered, outdoor concert arena, followed by a late night closing celebration. "Last year's inaugural LOOK3 Festival was a dream come true. I saw my photographic heroes on stage telling us the story of their lives. Add in the epic projections, the gallery shows, the presentations, the parties, and people coming from around the world, it was incredible," said Michael "Nick" Nichols, Festival co-executive director and National Geographic magazine's photographer and editor-at-large. Nichols conceived the one-of-a-kind event after twenty years of hosting "Hotshots," an informal gathering of photographers in his own backyard. "We've had so much positive feedback about how refreshing it is to slow down for three days and celebrate the medium we love and the talented people whose creativity inspires us. We have an extraordinary lineup of events and artists for 2008, the second year of LOOK3 will be every bit as stimulating." In addition to the specially staged events, LOOK3 will transform the historic downtown Charlottesville into a "living image" with photographs hanging in the trees, projected in storefront windows and on the sides of buildings, and also on display in all the galleries. The LOOK3 Festival of the Photograph is open to the public and the schedule of events include the following:
