American Statistical Association Offers One-Day Course for Clinical Trial Statisticians on the Analysis of Censored Data

The American Statistical Association (ASA) is sponsoring a one-day workshop on Friday, April 18, at ASA headquarters here for clinical trial statisticians who wish to analyze their data with the best available methods. The course will review some of the key developments in the analysis of censored event time data over the past three decades. Dr. Danyu Lin, the Dennis Gillings Distinguished Professor of Biostatistics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, will conduct the course.

Alexandria, VA (PRWEB) April 9, 2007 -- The American Statistical Association (ASA) is sponsoring a one-day workshop on Friday, April 18, at ASA headquarters here for clinical trial statisticians who wish to analyze their data with the best available methods. The course will review some of the key developments in the analysis of censored event time data over the past three decades. Dr. Danyu Lin, the Dennis Gillings Distinguished Professor of Biostatistics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, will conduct the course.

The course is open to ASA members, non-members, and students, and materials will be presented at a non-technical level. Basic knowledge of mathematical statistics and linear models is required, but no prior analysis of survival analysis is necessary. There is no text required for the course, but Dr. Lin cited as a useful reference "The Statistical Analysis of Failure Time Data" by J.D. Kalbfleisch and R.L. Prentice (2002).
