FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Author Joan Wai has a hit book on her hands after being inspired by the Asian tradition of playing games and pranks on the Bride and Groom at their reception. She debuted wedding game demonstrations in conjunction with her book 100+ WEDDING GAMES: Fun & Laughs for Bachelorette Parties, Showers, & Receptions" to brides of all nationalities at the recent BrideWorld Expo in the Los Angeles and Orange County convention centers. Only a few short months following its release, 100+ WEDDING GAMES is the most popular book for bachelorette parties and showers on Amazon.com and will be featured in the Trends column of upcoming issues of Phoenix and Tucson Bride & Groom Magazines.

The games were always my favorite part of a Chinese wedding," says frequent wedding invitee and Asian-American author Joan Wai. I figured I wasnt the only one who enjoyed playing them and if I wrote a book of wedding games, brides and grooms everywhere could enjoy the fun antics thats been a tradition in my culture for generations."

After extensive research, Joan was convinced there was an unfilled niche among todays brides and her best friends, Why not offer a generous variety of wild and mild and new, modern games so that you could turn to one book for entertaining guests at all wedding-related functions?" The result was 100+ WEDDING GAMES which describes over 100 reception games, bachelorette party games, bridal shower games, wedding-themed pranks, and twists on tradition like the bouquet/garter toss. Thats more giggle-inducing activities than any wedding book on the market.

The journey to publication was initially hampered by traditional publishers who found the idea of reception games a foreign concept. In actuality, wedding games are a popular tradition in Asian, German, and Mexican cultures. So Joan used her personal savings to start her own publishing company and published her book in late March 2003. The Midwest Book Review gave her book glowing praise, calling it zany, simple, exuberant fun, and highly recommended!" Reactions from attendees at the BrideWorld expo were even more enthusiastic, Brides-to-be came up to my booth and literally squealed with delight at the book." grins Joan. Couples warmed up to the idea of wedding games very quickly for its great photo and video opportunities, adds Joan, One couple said they needed the book because alcohol and dancing were not allowed at their reception."

The BrideWorld organizers also recognized the fun potential of wedding games and invited Joan to demonstrate some of her games on stage during both expos. "People loved the game demonstrations," said Rinda Ashby, coordinator for BrideWorld. "We meet many Brides who are seeking unique, crowd-pleasing entertainment ideas for the reception where extended family and friends are meeting for the first time," observes Rinda, "With 100+ Wedding Games, Brides have a resource for family-oriented entertainment--and they saw it here first at BrideWorld."

100+ WEDDING GAMES is a 130 page paperback published by The Brainstorm Company in March 2003. The book describes cute fun such as Ask for Her Hand (blindfolded Groom has to recognize his Bride hiding among women pulled from the gathering by a handshake only) and saucy games like Cop A Feel (blindfolded Bride has to locate three safety-pins pinned somewhere on her Grooms body). The friendly and occasionally sassy competitions are easy to set-up, have simple rules, and are flexible to the number of players.

The book retails for $11.95 and is available through Amazon.com, BarnesandNoble.com, Walmart.com. Media are invited to inquire about a review copy, digital press kit, or author interview via the contact information below.
