Former Chief Executive of the Federation Against Software Theft (FAST), John Lovelock, has joined the International Association of Information Technology Asset Managers (IAITAM) as the organization establishes a London office.

A seasoned IT asset management (ITAM) veteran, Lovelock will oversee and establish IAITAM’s presence in the United Kingdom and the E.U. IAITAM will now offer its IT asset management resources including (but not limited to):

  •     ITAM 360™, an interactive ITAM knowledge base and assessment system based on IAITAM’s Best Practice Library
  •     Additional educational materials, web events and member support

“IT asset management is becoming an essential part of the corporate vernacular everywhere and senior management is actively seeking results from ITAM programs as a method to bring cost-conscious, value-add to their businesses,” said Barbara Rembiesa, CEO and President, IAITAM. “With the focus of organizations in the United Kingdom and Western Europe seeking cost and operational efficiencies, facing industry and regulatory compliance, IT asset management plays a key role in the enterprise.

“We are extremely lucky to have such a seasoned executive in John to shepherd IAITAM into the European market,” continued Rembiesa. “His near-decade leading efforts at FAST through legislative reforms and copyright enforcement have laid the groundwork for his newly created position as Managing Director E.U. at IAITAM.”

As Chief Executive at FAST, Lovelock built-up the profile of the organization within the business community as well as the highest levels of government, actively lobbying on behalf of intellectual property rights holders and introduction of intellectual property issues into the educational curriculum. His focus was to represent the software industry and advocate effective management of software in both the public and private sectors to ensure end users reap the benefits of efficient software use and that vendors receive the revenue due to them. Prior to IAITAM and FAST, John Lovelock was the General Manager of Ora Electronics UK Ltd., which became the largest mobile phone accessory supplier in the UK during his tenure.

“It is an honor to work with IAITAM and its dedicated global network,” said Lovelock. “The time was right for me to entertain a new challenge and the international expansion of IAITAM is one that I am really looking forward to. With the increased adoption of new licensing schemes such as cloud computing, I believe the need for IAITAM’s Best Practices and educational courses time has come.”

Recently, IAITAM also entered the Japan Market. The London office will serve as a central hub for IAITAM to service countries throughout the U.K. and Europe.
