SUNY Delhi Realizes Benefits of Moodlerooms e-Learning Solution Since migrating to a platform based on the open-source course management system, Moodle, the college has connected to a more flexible e-Learning environment and experienced vast cost savings. (PRWEB) May 23, 2011 Moodlerooms, Inc., Moodle partner and provider of proven e-Learning solutions, is pleased to announce that SUNY Delhi has realized the benefits of Moodlerooms’ fully-supported open-source Moodle platform. After completing a full migration to Moodlerooms in January 2009 from its previous legacy learning management system, SUNY Delhi has been able to diversify instruction by connecting to a series of flexible features and third-party plug-ins as well as access 24/7 technical support. SUNY Delhi has also seen a rise in e-Learning enrollments within web-enhanced and full online courses and has realized savings of over 66% in e-Learning costs over a period of three years. “When we started the search [for an e-Learning alternative], our main focus was on finding a new LMS that would meet our users’ needs,” says Clark Shah-Nelson, Coordinator of Online Education for SUNY Delhi. “Pricing was also a major consideration. Our staff was familiar with the cost-savings associated with open-source and specifically, Moodle. Philosophically, as a public college, SUNY Delhi believed it should be supportive of a collaborative, open-source community.” After completing a full feature and price evaluation, SUNY Delhi chose Moodlerooms’ fully-supported, enterprise Moodle platform to replace its legacy LMS. “Moodlerooms’ simplified pricing model was one of the main differentiation points between the other options. It could also meet the functionality we were getting and then some,” says Shah-Nelson. “With the savings we’ve realized, we have been able to hire another full time member to our staff and invest more resources in faculty development, training and support for our end users. We have also expanded the availability of support service to the SUNY Delhi Moodle user community by 70%.” Clark Shah-Nelson will be presenting with Moodlerooms at the upcoming SUNY Delhi Moodle Moot 2011, an annual gathering of Moodle users and enthusiasts, taking place May 23 – 25 on the campus of SUNY Delhi, 2 Main Street, Delhi, NY 13753.
