.assisTek Announces iPRO -- A New Platform for Clinical Trial eDiaries Using the Apple iPhone

.assisTek, the global leader in electronic tablet electronic patient reported outcomes (ePROs), is proud to announce the iPRO, a new platform for clinical trial patient questionnaires (eDiaries) featuring the Apple iPhone™.

Scottsdale, AZ (PRWEB) April 10, 2008 -- .assisTek, the global leader in electronic tablet electronic patient reported outcomes (ePROs), is pleased announce the iPRO, a new platform for clinical trial patient questionnaires (eDiaries) featuring the Apple iPhone™.

The iPRO solves many of the problems that clinical trial study teams have had with PDA-based eDiaries in the past including:

•    Screen Size -- The screen is large, horizontal, bright, and colorful with large font. In most cases, the entire question and all answer choices are on the same screen.

•    Usability -- Because most question and answer sets can fit on one screen, the patient can simply touch an answer choice without needing to scroll down to see answers.

•    Data Transmission -- Because Apple iPhone™ questionnaires run on the internet, the data is saved on a central server as the patient answers each question. Neither patients nor clinic staffs ever have to transmit data.

•    Validation -- Because questionnaire text doesn't have to be modified, validation issues decrease very dramatically.

This is a real breakthrough compared to traditional PDA based ePROs. "You can get questions and answers on the same screen, so you don't have to scroll," says Gary Coraggio, Vice President of Business Development. "It eases a lot of the validation concerns. There need to be little or no modifications from the original questionnaire."

The .assisTek iPRO platform is also a significant factor in improving patient recruitment to clinical studies. Patient recruitment is often a major challenge in clinical trials. Study managers report that the Apple iPhone™ helps in patient recruitment for the following reasons:

•    The Wow factor. The Apple iPhone™ is very attractive, cool, slim, sleek, and fun to use. It may put a bit of fun in a sick patient's life, or may even be a little status symbol with friends and family.

•    The Apple iPhone™ offers attractive on screen functions such as clocks, alarms, and other features that are fun and useful for both the patient and the study team.

.assisTek will be providing demonstrations of the iPRO in Europe and the United States over the coming months. Interested parties should contact Gary Coraggio at gary.coraggio @ assistek.com to schedule a demonstration.
