The Crazy Baker Adds a Mysterious Masterpiece to Its Delectable Menu Sticky Toffee Pudding -- A British Culinary Favorite Sticky Toffee Pudding is a fabulous dessert now available from The Crazy Baker. It's really not pudding at all -- "pudding" is the British word for dessert - and it comes from a British tradition started in the early 1900's. This dessert (recently showcased as an ice cream flavor by Haagen Daazs and was its 2006 Scoop! flavor winner) is an usual combination of exotic flavors that delights all of the right taste buds. Renick, WV (PRWEB) April 11, 2008 -- England is famous for introducing two rich, sultry, and mysterious marvels the rest of the world can't seem to get enough of -- The Royal Family and Sticky Toffee Pudding.
Hall Hitzig, aka The Crazy Baker, has embraced the latter of the two and made his version of the famed dessert available to his loyal and royal customers, based on a recipe he served while working at a resort in England in the Cotswold's.
In England, pudding refers to dessert; in this case, the pudding is a moist, date cake served with an indulging sticky hot toffee sauce poured over it. Sticky Toffee Pudding's history of origin is almost as mysterious as its ingredients.
According to Wikipedia, three separate hotels in different regions of England claim to be the originator of this sumptuous English classic. One report indicates the landlady of The Gait Inn, Millington invented the high-quality dessert in 1907 and sold it in her pub. Then there's The Udny Arms Hotel in Newburgh, Aberdeenshire that claims it's the birthplace of Sticky Toffee Pudding and has the rest of the town convinced as well.
However, the gastronomic journal, Saveur, notes the most accepted tale is Sticky Toffee Pudding was invented by Francis Coulson in 1949 at the first ever country house hotel, Sharrow Bay Country House Hotel in the Lake District. Coulson developed this tasty dessert and began serving it in 1960 to his customers by the name of 'Icky Sticky Toffee Sponge.'
The true origin of Sticky Toffee Pudding may always remain a mystery, but it's undisputed that Coulson is responsible for introducing this traditional English dessert to the general public.
The Crazy Baker's Sticky Toffee Pudding features imported dates, European-style butter, and real cream. Like the rest of its delicious decadents, no preservatives are used in the recipe.
"I'm proud to introduce this English delight to our line of luscious desserts," says Hitzig. "The greatest joy I get out of baking Sticky Toffee Pudding is watching people try it for the first time. Knees literally buckle. Eyes roll with intense pleasure."
