Missouri Department of Transportation: Floods Closing Many State Highways

Check MoDOT’s Online Map for Latest Closings

Jefferson City, MO (PRWEB) April 10, 2008 -- As of 11:45 a.m. today, heavy rain has closed about 180 stretches of state highways in Missouri, and more rain is in the forecast. Most of the closings are in the southern half of the state. Missouri Department of Transportation crews are working 24/7 to monitor conditions, close roads and help with traffic control.

For up-to-the-minute road closing information visit MoDOT’s online map at modot.org (www.modot.org). The map is updated continually, and shows the latest road conditions and closing locations.

“With storms like this, road conditions are difficult to predict, and can change quickly,” said MoDOT Director Pete Rahn. “MoDOT’s online map is an important resource to help travelers determine flooding conditions before they leave the house.”

The latest information on state road closings is also available by calling MoDOT’s customer service centers at 1-888-ASK-MODOT (1-888-275-6636).
