The hand-blown glass art of contemporary Murano glass master Giampaolo Seguso will be featured at Baxter Chang Patri Fine Art from November 5th through January 5th, 2004. A special premiere reception will be held at the gallery on November 12th from 5:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. The exhibition will feature Segusos new Ragnatela series of one of a kind and limited edition glass art objects.

Since the 15th century, the name of the Venetian island Murano has been virtually synonymous with the creation of the finest, most elegant glass art in the world. The Seguso family has continued the tradition for over 600 years.

La Ragnatela" focuses on the filigree technique. The corresponding book to the exhibition explores the design of the spider web" technique and features Segusos poetry alongside his designs. This collection, which Seguso began working on in 1996, was created by him as a tribute to his father, glass artist Archimede Seguso, and his lasting contribution to the revival of filigree and its modern interpretations.

The show will also feature new and selected by works by six additional artists including luminescent sculpture by Ron Reihel, abstract landscape paintings by Jeremy Morgan, mixed media from Wess Dahlberg, steel Hinjo" wall sculptures from Brad Howe, paintings by Terrell Moore and new flora photography by academy award nominated cinematographer Ed Martin.

Located in the Hotel Nikko at 222 Mason Street, Baxter Chang Patri Fine Art specializes in contemporary painting, sculpture and photography. The gallery is co-owned by Holly Baxter and renowned San Francisco architect Piero Patri of Patri Merker Architects. The gallery brings an international array of established contemporary artists works to the San Francisco art market.
