FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE East Coast & West Coast Dance Pros Unite to Celebrate and Showcase Hip Hop Moves and Grooves at the 5th Annual San Francisco Hip Hop DanceFest.

Bay Area Hip Hop Dance Pioneer, Micaya, Produces and Directs the 5th Annual San Francisco Hip Hop DanceFest for one weekend only on November 21-23, 2003.

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) October 2003. The 5th Annual DanceFest, San Franciscos original dance festival dedicated to hip hop dance, expands its boundaries this year by featuring hip hop acts from both coasts. Full Circle, an ultra-hot dance company from New York, will be making their debut at the DanceFest this year. Their stellar credits include live performances with some of the biggest names in hip hop including Missy Elliot and Janet Jackson. The addition of Full Circle to this year's lineup will not only bring new professional flava to the DanceFest but an inspiring message for the young San Francisco hip hop community as well.

One of Full Circles Artistic Directors, Gabriel "KWIKSTEP" Dionisio, is best known for his versatile dance style and for his signature head spins. Through hip hop dance, Gabriel hopes to provide options to the teens of today who, like him, are presented with street life as the only way to live. "It's not the moves that make you a dancer, it's your spirit... your soul."

New Style Motherlode, Chain Reaction, Flo-ology, Micaya's own SoulForce and the all female crew, B-Syde will also be performing at this year's DanceFest. These professional companies, among many others, take the stage on Friday and Saturday evenings.

The youth group artists will be performing on Sunday night only and include DC Tribe, SoulForce Youth and Diamond, a youth group from Oakland among others.

Master Classes

A highlight of each year's DanceFest is the Master Classes that are taught by the performers themselves. Experts and novices alike are welcome to attend. Classes will be held for the public at the Palace for Fine Arts on Sunday, November 23rd - check the DanceFest web site (www.sfhiphopdancefest.com) for schedule, cost and other details.

Hip Hop Style

Hip hop dance is increasingly recognized and respected in the dance community. From its inner city roots to today's popular culture, the genre has evolved into one of the true multicultural art forms of the day. Observers can easily spot its African origins in the dance movements, but it has metamorphosed into a form like no other. Typical hip hop dance moves include poppin", lockin" and breakin" and can be seen in both the youth and professional performances.
