Llamas Website Puts Over 100 Pages of Searchable Llama and Alpaca Information Online Two classic llama books by Rosana Hart now have their full text online for reading, searching, and printing out, at http://www.llamas-information.com. "Living with Llamas: Tales from Juniper Ridge" is the story of one couple's relationship with llamas, and "Llamas for Love and Money" is a comprehensive how-to of llama raising, packing, and related topics. Llamas-information.com has just added over 100 pages of llama and alpaca information, readable online. This represents the full text of two classic llama books: "Living with Llamas: Tales from Juniper Ridge" and "Llamas for Love and Money," both by Rosana Hart.
"Living with Llamas" is the fast-paced, heartwarming story of the experiences of Hart and her husband as they bought their first llamas and experienced the joys and sorrows of llama breeding. A number of people have told her that they decided to get llamas after reading the book.
Llamas Magazine reviewed "Living with Llamas" as "A look into the warm, touching, friendly, and funny emotions of one couple's developing relationship with llamas. Those who don't have 'llama fever' can get some insight into what it is like. A must-read for anyone just getting into raising llamas."
"Llamas for Love and Money" is a comprehensive overview of llama care, breeding, commercial llama packing, and much more. It includes a chapter on the alpaca, a smaller relative of the llama well known for its soft wool. With many pages of how-to information easily searchable by a search box on the website, this book especially will be useful to anyone with questions about llamas or alpacas.
It was reviewed in The Discriminating Librarian: "One of the best things about this book is Hart's complete candor-she holds nothing back-giving readers both the pro and con of raising llamas." And Llamas Magazine said, "Rosana Hart is quite well known to the world of llama owners and she is an accomplished writer... She always gives the reader the thoughtful side, the considered view."
Although both books are in print, Hart decided to put the text online because she wanted to reach more people. "It's been over ten years since the books were last revised," she explained, "and since we no longer raise llamas, I am not going to revise them again. Also, the llama market has changed. If I were writing it now, I would call the second book 'Llamas for Love -- and MAYBE Money.'"
Rosana and Kelly Hart founded Juniper Ridge Press to publish these books and six videos on llamas that they produced: Why Llamas?; Llama Training with Bobra Goldsmith: What Every Llama Should Know; Training Llamas to Drive, with Bobra Goldsmith; Five-Star Llama Packing; Basic TTEAM with Llamas, featuring Marty McGee and with an Introduction by Linda Tellington-Jones, and Llama Reproduction, a Neonatal Clinic with LaRue Johnson, DVM, PhD. The International Llama Association awarded them a Pushmi-Pullyu Award for llama education.
The website, http://www.llamas-information.com, can also be reached at http://www.llamasinformation.com. As well as the full text of both books, it offers detailed descriptions of the videos and a large directory of other llama and alpaca websites.
