BlogHer Announces "Earth Day, Every Day" Community Initiative, Featuring Exclusive Audio Interviews With Anna Lappé and Governor Christine Todd Whitman

Earth Day initiative features bloggers across diverse topic areas sharing practical ways to support BlogHer's Goal to Go Green in 2008.

Palo Alto, Calif. (PRWEB) April 16, 2008 -- BlogHer, Inc. (www.blogher.com), one of the top women's online networks and the Web's number-one guide to blogs by women, today announced a two-part podcast series that focuses on the environment. The first part, released today, is an interview with author, television personality and food activist Anna Lappé. The second interview, with former New Jersey Governor Christine Todd Whitman, will be released on Earth Day, April 22.

The podcasts highlight that people from all ideologies can make the planet a priority and can find ways to make a difference. These interviews are a powerful complement to BlogHer's month-long community initiative to discuss the ways we can take environmentally-conscious action.

In addition to participating in the BlogHer 'Earth Day, Every Day' program, Lappé today launched Take a Bite out of Climate Change, her own Web initiative to help people learn about the connections between global warming and the food on our plate. Governor Whitman is the President of The Whitman Strategy Group (WSG), a consulting firm specializing in energy and environmental issues. She also co-chairs the Republican Leadership Council (RLC) in its mission to support fiscally conservative, socially tolerant candidates and to reclaim the word Republican. Governor Whitman was the 50th Governor of the State of New Jersey, serving as its first woman governor from 1994 until 2001. She then served in the cabinet of President George W. Bush as Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency from January of 2001 until June of 2003. She will be speaking at a Yale University celebration for the centennial of President Theodore Roosevelt's 1908 Conference on April 17-18, to discuss ways of dealing with global climate change.

In addition to featuring podcasts with Lappé and Governor Whitman, BlogHer's 'Earth Day, Every Day' campaign will give BlogHer members an opportunity to participate in various events, such as submitting videos that detail what green means to them; blogging about ways they are supporting Earth Day; and for those who love photography, BlogHer will be posting user-submitted nature photos focusing on the appreciation of Mother Nature.
