When it comes to emerging singers and songwriters, DiscoveringArtists.com offers an in-depth preview of who's hot and what's to come.

They may not ever get their guitar skills down pat, but that hasnt stopped two music buffs from featuring those who can.

Dan Galimidi and Kristen Pasculli began formulating the ideas for DiscoveringArtists.com during the Fall of 2002. After months of establishing contacts and refining their musical niche, the 25-year-old Jersey Shore residents launched the portal for emerging artists with hopes of promoting the musicians.

The site features interviews and feature stories, show and album reviews, original photographs and a message board for readers to suggest artists. The artist database lists the singers and songwriters that Galimidi and Pasculli call favorites. The venues section includes links from across the United States where concertgoers can catch a show. In addition, a news section features interesting tidbits to keep readers informed of happenings pertaining to the artists featured. The site is updated multiple times a week with content that keeps its visitors informed and up to date.

"There are a lot of music review sites out there, but I think it's the in-depth quality of the reviews and our knowledge of not only the artists - but the elements of the artist's influence on today's music scene - that sets us apart from all the rest," says Galimidi.

Galimidi, a graphic artist, created the site design and developed the aforementioned sections of the site. He designed it with a simple and easily navigable layout in mind. Galimidi also contributes original photography of concerts to the site.

"Photography is just another hobby of mine. To combine it with my love of music is merely a bonus," he adds.

Pasculli uses her journalism background to provide interviews, reviews and features. In writing her CD reviews, Pasculli selects only the albums that she and Galimidi deem worthy of the spotlight.

Im all about endorsing an artist I like, and that means highlighting the good. I wouldnt be promoting musicians if I negatively critiqued them, so I try to keep things positive yet honest. That gives our site an edge as well," says Pasculli.

After reviewing an album, she pursues a deeper relationship with the artist by offering additional exposure by way of interviews and feature stories.

"If an artist is newer to the industry, I take the time to write a feature article. This gives background about a musician, and allows our site to sort of introduce the artist," she says. "But if the performer is more well-known, I like to interview the artist in order for our readers to be kept updated about his or her career."

Notably, the site was chosen as an official affiliate for the Decent Xposure CD series. In exchange for their logo printed on 15,000 emerging artist compilation albums, Galimidi organized a CD giveaway and Pasculli provided a 6-week series of reviews on the album's songs. The duo have also lent their time to feature HB Charities, an organization that sponsors food drives at concerts across the country.
